I Have A Promise

In a world where broken promises are common, it can be difficult to know who or what to trust. Most people have experienced the pain of someone failing to follow through, whether in relationships, in business, or in everyday life. But God is fundamentally different from every person who has ever let us down. Numbers 23:19 makes this clear, stating that God is not a man who lies or changes His mind, and that He has never spoken a word He did not fulfill. Joshua 21:45 confirms this in the life of Israel, recording that not one of all the Lord's good promises failed. Every single one was fulfilled. This is not just a historical fact. It is the foundation of everything we believe as followers of Christ.

The reason God's promises can be trusted is because they are rooted in who He is, not simply in what He has said. He keeps His word because He cannot deny His own nature. Hebrews 6:18 reminds us that it is impossible for God to lie, and that this truth gives us great confidence as we hold to the hope set before us. Every promise in Scripture ultimately finds its fulfillment in Jesus Christ, who is the living yes to all that God has spoken. Through Him, every amen we pray ascends to the Father for His glory. This means that when we pray in the name of Jesus and stand on the promises of God, we are not engaging in wishful thinking. We are standing on the most reliable foundation in existence.

Living in the confidence of God's promises requires more than knowing they exist. It requires finding the specific promise that speaks to your situation, writing it down, praying it daily, memorizing it, and choosing to believe it even in the hard and waiting seasons of life. The Bible is filled with promises covering provision, peace, strength, forgiveness, wisdom, and presence. There is a promise for every problem. The challenge is to open Scripture, find the one that speaks to what you are facing right now, and hold on to it with the confidence that the God who made it has never broken a single one.
